Black Friday - precisely one decade ago I presented my WOOL research to 300+ Nuffield Scholars and said these final words at the end of my 12 minute presentation "make it easy"
Mostly referring to how we had previously made our wool fibres available from our own farm gates
A decade later we celebrate the who, what, when, why, how… and now
Who - Making fleece readily available to all those who really do care where their fibres have come from - it does matter that we are now able to prove that we are regenerating global landscapes after years of abuse to our natural world - sheep and their wool are a massive part of our carbon cycle
What - I will say the last 10 years have not been easy for us as the fibre provider, but what we have learnt is a joy to share and we hope that our customers have enjoyed following our journey too
When - true, it does take a long time to get the added value with wool fibres - yet wool remains a product worth the wait, known to stay with us for most of our lifetimes, sometime we take favourite items to the grave, often gifted and treasured by families forever
Why - Andy and Jen truly believed people wanted to find natural resources locally, are inspired when seeing real sheep fleece falling gently from within a set of sharp blades, landing onto a clean wooden board where it becomes easier to sort the differing qualities, pack and supply in all quantities
How - We see wool as a little bit like wine, native colourings comes from understanding genetics, nurturing these attributes to match soil types, the weather, harvesting dates, content families of sheep feeding on a natural forage diet, preserving traditional blade shearing techniques, not just taking the easy route - often, modern “agri-tech” systems are proving themselves as not the best for quality nor biodiversity
Now … for the reward - to celebrate this milestone, instead of offering discounts we usually like to offer FREE FIBRE as that is what we do best
Our offer to you all is simple - all our raw fleece offerings online on Black Friday x 3 days will automatically receive a free gift of fleece worth 20% of the total order value - so if you order a 1kg fleece, we will add in an extra 200g of similar fleece into your parcels - 2kg will be a 400g gift of fleece from us to you ... and so on
We also have prepared little gifts of fibre for each buyer too
This is not about marketing gimmicks or selling masses on one crazy day - sheep continually grow fibres each and every day, they need to have this growing fibre removed annually, and we are super happy to share our harvests with those who support our ideas to help us regain the word "fleece" to mean raw sheep fibres rather than it's synthetic imitation

(Please note we are exhibiting locally at the Mendip Christmas Market for the duration of this sale - all orders will be packed and sent from the 24th November 2025 thanks)
